Deepest condolences to Mabel and families. I taught with Harry on the Timmins High and Vocational School staff from 1965 until the Nesbitts moved "south" in 1968. He was a joy to be with, was great in his teaching and was a wonderful friend. I have enjoyed my e mail contact with Harry and Mabel these last several years. He will be missed! I was sorry to learn that Harry had passed away. Whenever he spoke with my parents (Janet and Bill) he always asked about me and my work in libraries; I was so touched with his interest. Please accept my sincere condolences and good wishes. Harry was my mother's cousin (Janet Black, nee Hardy).

Mr. Nesbitt was my Grades 1 and 2 teacher at S.S.# 3 Stanley Township in the early 1950s. I recall that he left when he and Mabel wed and I lost track of him for many years while I grew up and became a teacher myself. Happily, we reconnected at Retired Teachers of Ontario meetings and I looked forward to hearing about Harry and Mabel's latest adventures at the luncheons. I will miss his smiling face and always remember his hugs.

I am saddened to hear about Harry's passing and I'm sorry for your loss, Mabel. My first meeting with Harry was when he played Santa at the Stratford Santa Claus parades - he made a wonderful Santa with his twinkling eyes and loving spirit! And we spent many hours together as members of Plato's Café - his experiences added to some interesting discussions. Running into him in a coffee shop downtown or at a concert, I was always greeted by one of his beautiful smiles - he will be greatly missed.

Uncle Harry always greeted us with a smile and seemed interested in our lives. I remember the good time that he had at Matt and Becky's Buck and Doe...dancing to the song 'Girlfriend' by Avril Lavinge with his nieces, daughter-in-laws and granddaughters. His sock collection was also very unique and symbolized his sense of good humour. Fondly remembered.

I met Harry years before I began working at Stratford Public Library, as he was a power to reckon with in the Ontario Library Association. I have found that to be so typical of Harry's generosity and commitment to community - he wasn't willing to simply be a member of the library board, but he had to get involved in the larger world of library service in order to help his local library become the excellent library it is. When I was working at the library, Harry was a frequent, and always welcome, visitor. It was striking the number of people who stopped to say "hello". Stratford will miss Harry.

Back in the seventies my parents had a group home for teenagers. Mr. Nesbitt was very supportive and involved in some great events we had the kids involved in. His support made a huge difference to getting the kids involved in the fabric of the community, thank you Mr. Nesbitt from the Gardner family.
